Fine art watercolor PhotoArt image of Southport, North Carolina

I recently finished a watercolor painting of Southport, North Carolina that I really like.  It is of boats decorated with Christmas lights in Southport Harbor.

As the base image, I used a picture I shot a few years back.  Using digital painting tools, I created a watercolor painting from it.  About four hours of work went into it.  The work is an original piece and can never be exactly duplicated.

Silver Lake Harbor, Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks, NC

This image is of Silver Lake Harbor on the south end of Ocracoke Island on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.  The base image is a HDR image consisting of six different exposures (of the same image) that were blended together to create one image.  Then the one HDR image was hand-brushed to create a unique PhotoArt style.  There was a lot of drama in the clouds at the time the picture was taken and I worked to emphasize that.

I like the image and hope you do too.

Outer Banks Hatteras Lighthouse at Sunset

This image of the Hatteras Lighthouse has been sitting, undone for about 4 or 5 years.  I never really liked it much.  The composition is good but the image lacked life.

I pulled it up the other day and decided to give it a go, to breathe some life into it.  I worked on it about 3 or 4 hours and I really like the result: the vibrant colors, the prominence of the foreground sea oats, the depth, the way the sun, sitting just above the horizon, illuminates the tops of the sea oats.

The picture is an original PhotoArt image that has been hand-brushed to create an artistic style.
