New fine art scenic landscape infrared photo of the Blue Ridge Mountains released

A new fine art landscape photography print has been added to the Picture North Carolina gallery.

The print is a black & white infrared photography image that has been toned with color.  It is a very nice image and I like it very much.  The print was recently shown (for the first time) at an art gallery exhibition and sold rather quickly.

The infrared print is available in sizes up to 24″ x 36″

New Blue Ridge Parkway photos of a lush fern forest released

A set of new Blue Ridge Parkway fine art prints are available in the gallery.

I especially like this shot because of its almost-tropical lushness.  Captured on the Blue Ridge Parkway on a foggy day, it shows a dense forest of ferns during the period of new Spring growth that makes things that incredible, brilliant lighter green.  In the background are Blue Ridge Mountain hardwood trees.  I like the composition, too.

The fine art print is a giclee print on gallery-quality archival paper.  Available in sizes up to 24″ x 36″.  A black & white version is also available.

New Blue Ridge Mountains pictures digital art (paintography) added

Two new images have been added to the online gallery.  These fine art photography images (a color and a black & white version) are among my newest favorites.

The image began as an original digital photograph of a stand of trees lining the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The fall colors were already beautiful to begin with.  The photographic images were then hand-brushed and manually modified to transform them into an original work of art.

The resulting digital photo art (often called paintography) is a beautiful piece that looks just like a traditional hand-painted oil.

Two versions are available: color and black & white.  Prints are available in the online gallery on the Picture North Carolina website.  In addition, a poster sized 17″ x 36″ print is also available.

New Outer Banks photos added to the Outer Banks photography gallery

I’ve added a new photo to the Outer Banks photography gallery.

The image Landing Zone is one of my favorites.  It is of a bird just landing atop a piling sticking out of the water.  The photo was captured on Ocracoke island a few minutes after sunrise just after the sun lifted above the horizon.  I was in the right position and captured the image at the right moment when the bird’s wings were fully extended and his legs (landing gear) down for the landing.

The image was not photoshopped – that is, the bird was not added in.

Various size prints are available in the online gallery.
